Student ISTEP Results Now Available

Last updated on Tuesday, September 10, 2013

(INDIANAPOLIS) - The Indiana Department of Education is releasing ISTEP scores to the families of students, but is still working on tallies for schools and school districts.

The release of scores has been delayed while reviews have been conducted into online testing glitches experienced by students.

A report released in July found about 80,000 students in third through eighth grade had at least one part of the statewide standardized test interrupted when server glitches from a state contractor kicked them offline. That's about 16 percent of all students who took the test.

An independent testing expert hired by the state determined that the interruptions had little effect on the scores, but still recommended about 1,400 results be thrown out to avoid tainting the other test scores.

Scores are available here.

State Superintendent Glenda Ritz says the effects of the delays were minimized, due to teachers' diligence. "It's a testament to the educators," she said.

CTB McGraw Hill is still in negotiation for a possible settlement because of the testing problem.
