(WABASH CO.) - Officials said Tuesday a small plane with a few people on board made a hard landing in north central Indiana after engine trouble, sending one to the hospital.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said at roughly 10:30 a.m., a Beechcraft 33 suffered an engine failure. The plane made a hard landing roughly 8 miles north of Wabash, Ind.

The Wabash County Sheriff's Office confirmed to RTV6 the plane "crashed" into a field near County Road 500 North, roughly a half-mile west of State Road 13.

Sheriff's officials said there were three people on board the plane. One was airlifted to Parkview Hospital in nearby Fort Wayne. The condition of that person is unknown at this time.

The sheriff's office said investigators do not believe the other two passengers of the plane were hurt, as they were not hospitalized.

The plane is registered in Danville, Iowa.
