New Requirements For Jobless Benefit Recipients

Last updated on Wednesday, September 18, 2013

(INDIANAPOLIS) - Indiana has a new requirement for people receiving jobless benefits.

The Indiana Department of Workforce Development says all unemployed persons receiving jobless benefits now must go to a local WorkOne office for an in-person review of their work search records and an orientation to WorkOne services after their 4th week of receiving benefits.

The new requirement was approved by the Legislature earlier this year and signed into law by Governor Mike Pence.

The agency says the legislation was aimed at getting unemployed Hoosiers connected with WorkOne services and programs and on track to re-employment as quickly as possible.

People receiving benefits will begin receiving notices about the requirement in October.
