Injured High School Player Moved To Rehab Center

Last updated on Friday, September 6, 2013

(FORT WAYNE) - A family member says a northeastern Indiana high school football player is now at a rehabilitation center recovering from a head injury.

Columbia City senior running back and linebacker Sam Dailey was released Tuesday from Fort Wayne's Lutheran Hospital, where he was in serious condition after being injured Aug. 23 in a game at Warsaw.

Jessica Laux tells The Journal Gazette that the family isn't yet releasing more information about her nephew's condition.

Neurosurgeon Jeffrey Kachmann has said Dailey suffered an acute head injury which caused a blood clot to form on his brain. The player had several surgeries to reduce swelling.

Columbia City coach Randy Hudgins says Dailey was injured while trying to make a tackle.
