(INDIANAPOLIS) - Indianapolis is ranked 15th for homicides in 2012, according to a report out this week from the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
The report looks at crime statistics from across the country.
Chicago topped the list with the highest number of homicides at 500, followed by New York, Detroit and Philadelphia.
The list is as follows:

6. Baltimore | 219
7. Houston | 217
8. New Orleans | 193
9. Dallas | 154
10. Memphis | 133

14. Kansas City | 105
15. Indianapolis | 101
The FBI report also said that in 2012, a violent crime occurred every 26 seconds, with a murder happening every 35 minutes, a forcible rape happening every six minutes, a robbery every 1.5 minutes and an aggravated assault every 41.5 seconds.
A property crime occurred every 3.5 seconds, with a burglary happening every 15 seconds; larceny-theft every 5.1 seconds and vehicle theft every 43.7 seconds.
