(MARION, OH) - A former Ohio sheriff’s deputy and corrections officer has been convicted of raping a five-year-old child while he was babysitting.
Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine on Thursday announced a Marion County jury found 28-year-old Randy N. Spencer guilty of four counts of rape.
The attorney general's office says Spencer raped the child between June 2012 and April. During that time, he was a corrections officer in Delaware County and an auxiliary officer in Marion County.
The Columbus Dispatch reports Spencer babysat the child and others when his girlfriend, who runs a babysitting business, was not available.
Spencer's attorney did not immediately return a request for comment. Conviction carries a minimum of 15 years and a maximum of life in prison.
The Marion man is scheduled to be sentenced Sept. 27.
