Ducks Are Part Of The Ford Hoosier Outdoor Experience Dynasty

Last updated on Tuesday, September 17, 2013

(HARRISON STATE PARK) - Ford Hoosier Outdoor Experience participants can become part of their own duck dynasty on Sept. 21-22 at Fort Harrison State Park in Indianapolis. Beards are optional.

Ducks Unlimited will have a waterfowl decoy set up with a layout blind and demonstrate duck and goose calling. DU will provide handouts and duck head stickers for children throughout the event. Weather permitting, DU will present a retriever demonstration at the park's Delaware Lake, Sept. 21, at 11 a.m.

Some of the other more than 50 outdoor activities, all of which are free, include archery, target shooting, mountain biking, horseback riding, fishing, kayaking and more. All equipment is provided. Parking and admission are free, too. Participants can even bring their own food, although food booths will be available. To view a 30-second highlight video, see youtu.be/knvmmJ8DquQ.

A record 25,500 people attended last year. Room for more awaits in the heavily wooded, spacious, historic 1,700 acres of former Army base.

The Ford Hoosier Outdoor Experience runs 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day that weekend. Made possible by the generosity of Central Indiana Ford dealers, the event is presented by the DNR and the Indiana Natural Resources Foundation. The goal is to introduce people to outdoor activities they may have never tried.

Online advance registration at hoosieroutdoorexperience.IN.gov is requested. Watch there or Facebook.com/HoosierOutdoorExperience for updates and details.
