Drunk Thief Held At Gunpoint By Homeowner

(GIBSON CO.) - An Evansville man was arrested on several charges after authorities say he broke into a rural Gibson County home.

WFIE reports, the Gibson County Sheriff's Office says dispatchers received a 911 call Saturday from 8459 South 950 East about an intruder in a home.

Investigators say 34-year-old James Kortz broke into the home while the homeowners were away.

Officials say the homeowners arrived while Kortz was there and found him rummaging through their house. They say Kortz was trying leave the house with a pair of guns he had taken.

The owners wrestled Kortz to the ground and held him at gunpoint until authorities arrived on scene.

Deputies say Kortz tested twice the legal limit for alcohol on a breathalyzer.

Kortz was taken to the Gibson County Jail and is being held without bond.
