Counterfeiter Taken Into Police Custody

Last updated on Monday, September 2, 2013

(FORT WAYNE) - One of two Fort Wayne men accused of working together to spend $1000 of counterfeit bills at Kroger grocery stores has been taken into custody.

18-year-old Justin Dixon was charged on Friday with corrupt business influence and three counts of forgery. The second man has not yet been charged.

From Aug. 18 to 24, the two men passed 10 fake $100 bills at Kroger stores in the area. On Aug. 26, Dixon's accomplice tried unsuccessfully to pay with a counterfeit $100 bill, and an off-duty police officer working for Kroger confirmed it was a fake.

According to court papers investigators linked the men to the other fake bills by reviewing store surveillance videos.
