Ambulance Fired Upon While Responding To Call

(INDIANAPOLIS) - Metro police are investigating an incident where medics where shot at while responding to a medical call.

A witness told police he saw a person aim a gun and shoot at emergency medical personnel when they were responding to an assault call in the 1700 block of Sparrow Ave., near I-65 and Keystone Ave.

Todd Harper, a spokesman for Indianapolis EMS, says no one was hurt in the incident, which occurred about 6:00 p.m. Monday. It does not appear that the ambulance was struck by the gunfire.

Police say one person is in custody in connection with the incident, and a second person is sought.

Police recovered a weapon that may have been used in the incident.
