Last updated on Monday, August 12, 2013

(INDIANAPOLIS) - A woman was seriously injured when she jumped from a second story window to escape a fire at her home.

Indianapolis Fire Department firefighters were dispatched to 994 Woodruff Place at 4:33 a.m. Sunday. When crews arrived, heavy smoke was showing.

Officials say Paige Conroy, 22, was transported to Wishard Hospital. She suffered injuries from the more than 20-foot fall and also suffered smoke inhalation.

Another resident of the home, Brandon Kitch, 29, told investigators that he believes an acquaintance started the fire after an altercation previously in the evening.

Investigators ask that anyone with information call Crime Stoppers at 262-TIPS.

The fire was under control in about 10 minutes. Officials estimate damages at about $20,000. They say there were no working smoke detectors in the home.
