Last updated on Monday, August 19, 2013

(RUSHVILLE) - Rushville Police say a truck disregarded the red flashing lights at a railroad crossing in Rushville Friday at 3 PM and crashed into a freight train.

The pickup truck was driven by 27-year-old Thomas Alexander and passenger 19-year-old Anthony Huffman of Rushville.

The train couldn't stop at the crossing at 4th St & Perkins and pushed them in the truck into the side of a house on N Perkins St. The residence had minimal damage.

Both Alexander and Huffman were extricated and sent to Rush Memorial Hospital. They were then transported to Indianapolis hospitals by air ambulance and are in critical condition.
