Police Seize Marijuana Plants At Jennings Co. Business

Last updated on Saturday, August 10, 2013

(JENNINGS CO.) - Police destroyed nearly 100 marijuana plants found behind a business in Jennings County Thursday morning.

State police working with the Jennings County Sheriff's Department found 99 marijuana plants growing behind an old school house at 4465 N. CR 300 W in Jennings County. Scott Smith, 42, of North Vernon, operates a taxidermy business in the building, police said.

The plants were photographed, seized and destroyed.

An anonymous tip led police to the building. No arrests have been made at this time, but police say criminal charges are pending.

State police say harvest season for marijuana is beginning as summer comes to an end and urges anyone with information about marijuana growing operations or other illegal activity to contact ISP.
