Police Identify Toddler Who Died In Connersville Fire

Last updated on Thursday, August 1, 2013

(CONNERSVILLE) - Police have identified the toddler who died in a Connersville fire Tuesday, the Fayette County Coroner confirmed.

About 5 p.m., officials with the Connersville Fire Department were called to the scene of a house fire near 12th Street and River Road.

Officials said the parents inside barely escaped with their 4-year-old son and couldn't find their daughter.

Marley Davis, 2, died in the fire. Firefighters searched the house and found her body in one of the bedrooms.

Officials said her cause of death would be released pending an autopsy.

Authorities said fire crews were on the scene for approximately three hours before the flames were put out.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, but the Connersville Fire Department chief did not suspect drugs or foul play to be a factor.

Community members continued to show their support through a memorial of flowers and dolls at the site of the fire.
