Last updated on Monday, August 19, 2013

(CRAWFORD CO.) - State Police say a Mauckport woman was killed Friday night when the vehicle she was riding in crashed into a tree during a police chase in Crawford County.

Police say 44-year-old Robert Michael Banet of Leavenworth refused to pull over during an attempted traffic stop by the Marengo Town Marshall.

Town Marshall James Harrington gave chase.

Banet lost control of his pick-up truck about a mile later on Valeene Road and hit a tree.

Banet was airlifted to the University of Louisville Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

However his passenger 46-year-old Jeannine Marie Farrell of Mauckport was pronounced dead at the scene.

Once state police complete their investigation, all findings will be turned over to the Crawford County Prosecutor's Office for review and possible charges.
