(LAFAYETTE) - A crash between a motorcycle and a pickup truck in Tippecanoe County killed a motorcyclist this week and injured another.
The Lafayette Police Department said at 8:55 p.m. on Wednesday, crews were sent to a wreck at State Road 38 and Creasy Lane.
Investigating officers said they learned a motorcycle had been traveling south on Creasy lost control after taking evasive action to avoid a pickup truck that was attempting to make a left turn in front of the motorcycle. Officers said the pickup had been about to make a left turn from Creasy onto westbound State Road 38.
The DeMotte couple on the motorcycle - Dennis H. Griede, 52, and Sherri Griede, 56 - was ejected from the bike as a result of the crash.
The pickup truck involved was driven by Abigail Wilson, 18, of Crawfordsville. Wilson was not injured.
The Griedes were taken to Franciscan St. Elizabeth Hospital East in Lafayette. Dennis was treated for a complaint of head pain and abrasions. Sherri was pronounced dead at the hospital.
LPD said toxicology results for all involved parties are pending, but alcohol and excessive speed are not considered to be factors in the crash.
