Last updated on Saturday, August 31, 2013

(INDIANAPOLIS) - A man’s arm was nearly severed in a crash near the Indiana State Fairgrounds Friday morning.

Indianapolis Fire Department crews said the crash happened just before 7 a.m. near 38th Street and Fall Creek Parkway when a man was driving a car with his arm out the window.

A pickup truck stopped in front of him to turn in to the Indiana State Fairgrounds. The man in the car tried to get into the other lane and go around the pickup truck. His arm hit the back of the pickup truck and was nearly severed, IFD official said. Crews said they had to cut through a fence to get the man out of his car.

The victim was rushed to Methodist Hospital. His medical condition was not released.

The driver of the pickup truck was not hurt.
