(BRAZIL) - A Clay County man awoke early Wednesday morning to his pet pit bull licking his foot.
When he looked down he saw two of his toes were missing.
Roger Brown of Brazil, Ind. is diabetic and had an infection in his foot. Brown said he didn't feel the dog gnawing his toes off.
Authorities say he lost his big toe and small toe before waking up around 4:30 a.m.
Medics wrapped his foot and he was transported to IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis by medical helicopter.
Brazil Police say because the dog is a family pet, they did not consider the incident an attack by the dog.
