Coroner Rules Missing Ohio Woman's Cause Of Death Homicide

(FRANKLIN CO.) - On Sunday, April 7, skeletal remains were found near Cedar Grove.

The Franklin County Coroner's Office, Indiana State Police, Franklin County Sheriff's Deputies, and Indiana Conservation Officers responded to the scene.

On April 8 those remains were positively identified as those of Katelyn Markham of Fairfield, OH who had been reported as missing on August 14, 2011.

After reviewing the results of post-mortem examinations conducted by various forensic specialists, Franklin County Coroner, Wanda Lee, has ruled that Katelyn Markham's cause of death is undetermined and her manner of death is homicide.

On Tuesday the Franklin County Coroner's Office released the remains of Katelyn Markham so that her family could make funeral arrangements.

The Indiana State Police and the Fairfield Police continue working jointly in their investigation into the death of Miss Markham.

"This remains an ongoing investigation and no further information will be released at this time," According to ISP Sgt. Noel Houze. "As the investigation continues, investigators will determine what further information, if any, can be released and that information will then be forwarded to media by Indiana State Police.
