Woman Told Police She Shot Man To Protect Her Kids

(INDIANAPOLIS) - Police are investigating after one person was shot in a home just after noon Tuesday.

Metro police responded to a residence at 2862 N. Olney St., where they found one person suffering from a gunshot wound. Olney Street is near 30th Street and Sherman Avenue.

Police said the victim, a male whose identity has not yet been released, was a family friend visiting the home.

The apparent shooter, a woman who lives in the home, told police she shot the man because he was going to discipline one of her children.

Police said the woman told the man not to touch her child, and when the man made a move toward the child she shot him.

Police said the victim was taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the left buttock and is expected to survive.
