Last updated on Tuesday, July 16, 2013

(LAPORTE) - Two teenagers are accused of making a bomb and taking it to a county fair in northern Indiana, police said.

A fairgoer at the La Porte County Fair Thursday night told police that a juvenile at the fair had an explosive and was planning to detonate it near the carnival rides, the La Porte County Sheriff's Department said.

Minutes later, police found a teen matching the person's description and found a suspicious device in his backpack.

A bomb squad was called to dismantle the device that was found in the backpack, and they confirmed it was an explosive device, police said.

The boy, 16, was arrested on a felony charge of possessing a destructive device.

Another teenager, also 16, was arrested on felony charges for making the explosive device, police said.
