(HENRY COUNTY) - Two people died and five others, including two children, were taken to the hospital after a car accident in Henry County on Saturday morning, officials said.

Police were called to the scene of U.S. 35 and County Road 675E, west of Blountsville, just after 11:15 a.m.

There was heavy rain in the area at the time of the accident, police with the Henry County Sheriff's Department said.

A Chevrolet Equinox was traveling northwest on U.S. 35 when it hydroplaned and went into the path of a southeast bound Kia Spectra, police said.

The driver and an adult male passenger in the Kia were pronounced dead on the scene, police said.

Authorities said another adult male and two children who were in the Kia were taken by ambulance to Henry County and Ball Memorial hospitals.

The driver and a passenger in the Chevrolet were taken to Henry County Hospital.

Officers with the Indiana State Police were assisting with the investigation.
