Sellersburg Man Arrested After Using A Samurai Sword To Keep Police At Bay

(SELLERSBURG) - A Sellersburg man is in custody after police said he used a samurai sword to keep officers responding to a domestic call at bay.

Bethanni Williams of WHAS reports officers were called to a home in the 9000 block of Newberry Road around 11 p.m. Sunday on a domestic violence report.

When the arrived, police said the family was outside when, but the suspect was holed up in the home with a sword and refused to come out.

After about an hour, police said they entered the house.

Sellersburg Police Chief Russ Whelan says a SWAT team entered the home through a back door and encountered the man in the living room. The man was tased and taken into custody.

Police have not released the man's identity.
