(INDIANAPOLIS) - Police are investigating a robbery reported Sunday on the Monon Trail just north of downtown Indianapolis.

A victim told police three young males took his bike and two cell phones just north of East 20th Street. He described the youths as two black males and a Hispanic or possibly light-skinned black male. Two of the suspects were riding bicycles in the area of a memorial set up for a bicycle rider who had been severely injured on the trail a couple weeks ago.

The victim told police he had passed the memorial, but decided to turn around to get a picture. The juveniles were still near the memorial. As he approached, the male who did not have a bike asked him if he had an inner tube for a bicycle tire. When the victim said "no," the juvenile pulled the earphones from the victim's ears, causing him to turn around.

When the victim turned around, the same male - described as having a muscular build, standing about 5'4" with a short haircut, wearing a navy blue t-shirt and white shorts - was pointing a black, semi-automatic handgun in the victim's face. The juvenile told the victim to give him the bike and asked what else he had. The victim told him about a cell phone and iPod he had on the bike.

Police say the other two suspects were about 15 away during the hold-up, but were yelling to the other juvenile to "hurry up, man."

A witness traveling north on the trail was passed by the three suspects, who were last seen headed east on E. 19th Street. The victim was able to use the witness's cell phone to call police.

The stolen bicycle is described as a silver and navy Cannondale road bike with silver bottle cages, black saddle bag, black handlebar bag, Speedplay pedals, Easton EA90 wheels and a Cat Eye wireless speedometer.

Also stolen were a black Samsung Galaxy Nexus cell phone and an iPhone, which the victim used as an iPod.

Officers called to the scene were unable to locate the suspects or the bicycle in the area.
