(MUNCIE) - A woman five months pregnant was raped at a Muncie store before the man robbed the place of $350 in cash, according to court documents.
Travis Marlett, 25, admitted to police he "inappropriately touched" the woman without her consent before taking the cash, the probable cause affidavit said. Marlett of Muncie is facing three felony charges, and this wasn't his first brush with the law.
The woman told police on the Fourth of July she was working at Cirilla's when Marlett asked for help locating a price on an item. When she got close to him, he grabbed her. When she tried to push him away, he used a stungun on her stomach before she told him she was pregnant. As a result, he punched her in the stomach and taped her hands behind her back, the woman told police.
Marlett proceeded to sexually assault the woman before making her count out $350 for him, according to court documents. He then walked her to her car, told her to wait until he was gone and wished her a "nice Fourth of July."
Another employee remembered a suspicious man in the store that she had found on the Indiana Sex Offender Registry, who she identified as Marlett. The employee who reported the attack confirmed it was Marlett. In an interview with police, Marlett reportedly asked if the woman and her baby were still alive.
Marlett was arrested on preliminary charges of rape, armed robbery and criminal confinement.
This was not Marlett's first run-in with the law. It was Marlett's second violent and seemingly unprovoked crime against a woman.

Travis Marlett, released from prison in March, had been arrested again.
In 2005, Leigh Ann Vorhees was alone in a high school classroom when Marlett slit her throat.
According to the Indiana Department of Corrections website, in 2012 about 36 percent of male inmates re-offended. The vast majority are released on parole or probation.
