(INDIANAPOLIS) - A man was arrested on a murder charge early Tuesday morning, hours after his live-in girlfriend was found dead in a home on Indianapolis' south side, police said.

The woman's body was removed from the home in the 1800 block of Singleton Street nearly eight hours after police were first called. Police later identified the woman as Shanna Elmore, 24.

The man's family called 911, prompting police to come to the home about 10:30 p.m. Monday. The man, later identified as 23-year-old Cory Musick, was hospitalized Tuesday morning.

Details about how Elmore was killed weren't immediately released, but two body bags were used to remove her.

Investigators and a forensics team were still at the home at 6 a.m. Police said they expect to release more details later.

Neighbors told RTV6 that there was a dispute Saturday involving the couple and that Elmore had finger marks on her neck when she went to use a neighbor's phone.

Neighbors also said there had been several previous disputes at the home.
