Husband And Wife Team Arrested For Stealing Items From Goodwill Stores

Last updated on Thursday, July 11, 2013

(INDIANAPOLIS) - A husband and wife have been arrested, accused of swiping donated items from Goodwill stores all over Indianapolis, and police said they had five children with them when they were arrested.

Security guards said they were watching security cameras as the couple started rifling through donated goods outside the Goodwill Store at 8450 N. Michigan Ave. Sunday night.

When police arrived, they said the couple was found with stereo components and at least seven bags full of clothing that had been left as donations.

Felony theft charges were lodged against Juana Morales, 34, and Inocencio Rodriguez, 31.

Relatives were called to care for the couple's five children -- a 12-year-old girl, a 9-year-old boy, a 7-year-old girl, a 5-year-old boy and a baby girl, approximately 1 year old.

Police found them in the couple's newer model Ford truck that was parked near the donations.

Goodwill security workers reported to police that the same couple had been spotted on surveillance video, making weekly trips to various Goodwill donation drop-off sites all over Indianapolis.

They would usually sift around for various items between 10 p.m. and midnight on Sunday nights, police said.
