Last updated on Tuesday, July 23, 2013

(BROWNSBURG.) - The Hendricks County Sheriff’s Department reports they are investigating human remains found in a storage tank near County Road 1050 East and Maloney Road.

Someone was clearing the lot when the discovery was made Monday morning.

The bones were found in a sealed well drum on a vacant property off Maloney Road, near the Hendricks-Marion county line, and the coroner's office confirmed the bones are human.

Police say a man who recently purchased the property about a month ago was clearing it off when he found the skeletal remains inside the cylinder.

A person stopped by to purchase the drum for scrap metal, and he and the landowner found the remains inside and called police.

Police believe the bones belong to a male based on the clothing found with the bones. Officials believe the bones have been sealed in the drum for years.

Forensics experts from the University of Indianapolis were called to the scene to investigate.

No other information was avalible at this time.
