(UNDATED) - Members of Congress in both parties are applauding the decision to give employers an extra year to comply with a federal health-care mandate — but for very different reasons.
The 2010 law gave employers four years to prepare for the insurance requirement, but Democratic Senator Joe Donnelly says many businesses need the extra year to get their questions about the law answered.
The delay also gives Congress time to consider a change Donnelly's co-sponsoring with Maine Republican Susan Collins, to apply the requirement to employees who work 40 hours a week, not 30.
Ninth District Republican Todd Young has introduced a similar bill in the House. Every Indiana House Republican except the Third District's Marlin Stutzman has co-sponsored it.
