(INDIANAPOLIS) - The Director of the Indianapolis Department of Public Safety has launched a disaster review team which will review the city's response to the Richmond Hill explosion.

Director Troy Riggs says the team's goal is to look at what was done well when responding to the explosion and make sure those actions become best practices in the future. The team will also look at what wasn't done well and make sure that doesn't happen again.

Riggs says while he believes this was the finest response to a disaster that he's ever seen, there is always room for improvement and he owes it to the community to make sure all first responders are as good as possible.

Riggs says some of the items the team will review include administrative issues, making sure taxpayer dollars were spent wisely and making sure they took advantage of all of their resources on local, state and federal levels. The team will ensure that best practices are documented for future use.

There are 19 members of the team which include representatives from local, state and federal agencies. Also on the team are the minister of the Southport Presbyterian Church, the neighborhood representative of Richmond Hill, City-County Council President Maggie Lewis and Councillor Jack Sandlin.

Riggs says he expects to have a final report and implementation plan within the next two to three months.
