(INDIANAPOLIS) - A 1-year-old boy was rushed to the hospital after a large television set fell on him, and police blamed two adults who were fighting over the remote control.
RTV6 Stephen Dean reports, medics were called after 8 p.m. Thursday night to the 600 block of West 43rd Street, which is located in a neighborhood near Butler University, after the child's mother said she rescued the infant from underneath a 27-inch older tube model television set.
She told police that her two adult sisters, ages 26 and 21, were fighting over the remote control when one of them shoved the large set toward the other.
Police say the set was apparently knocked off balance and police said the set fell directly onto the 1-year-old boy.
The mother says she quickly reached under the set and struggled to hoist it off the baby as the child was moved to safety.
An ambulance was called and the child was taken to an area hospital to be checked out, but police say no serious injuries were apparent.
The woman who pushed the TV set during the fight took off running away from the house as officers approached her to ask questions about the scuffle. She was not located and no charges were filed against any of the women who were home at the time.
Police called Child Protective Services caseworkers to follow up with the family after the baby was released from the hospital.
