Anderson Police Seek Man In Rape Of 93-Year-Old Woman

Last updated on Friday, July 19, 2013

(ANDERSON) - Anderson Police have stepped up patrols and neighbors are on edge after someone broke into an elderly woman’s home and raped her.

It happened sometime after midnight Tuesday in the 3600 block of Hamilton Place.

Police say a man broke into the 93-year-old woman's home, went into her bedroom, then attacked and raped her. According to detectives, nothing was stolen and they believe the attacker's only motive was to assault the woman.

The woman was treated at a local hospital and has since been released. She lives alone and was by herself at the time of the attack, but now she is staying with family.

The attack took place on a quiet, well kept street. Neighbors are shocked and frightened after learning about the crime.

Police, meanwhile, are interviewing persons of interest. They have no suspect, nor do they have a suspect description. Officers went door to door in the neighborhood Wednesday trying to get information and to determine if anyone saw or heard anything that could help the case.
