(SOUTH BEND) - Police swarmed an Indiana waterway on the Fourth of July after reports that a naked man groped two women who were out for a walk.
Police said Thursday's reports marked the fourth time in two weeks the man had been spotted. The man was described only as white and in his 30s.
Two women who reported the incident spent part of the holiday walking at East Race, a waterway in South Bend, ABC57 reported .
"We were headed back, and when we got by those steps over there, that's where he jumped out," one of the women said. "He just jumped out and scared us because he had no clothes on. She and I both kind of yelled out, and he grabbed at me, and then I started screaming and took off running and he just kind of smirked."
The women called 911 after the man tried to grab their backsides, but police were not able to find the man.
"This is the first report of him actually assaulting or touching a female," said South Bend police Lt. Joe Galea.
Police increased patrols in the area.
