Last updated on Sunday, June 9, 2013

(NEW HAVEN) - The New Haven Police Department has released a sketch of the suspect who they say sexually assaulted a female jogger at knifepoint on the Rivergreenway Tuesday afternoon.

Kate Taylor of WANE TV15 reports that, according to police, the victim was jogging by herself around 4:30 p.m. when a man started walking towards her on the trail. The victim told police he displayed a knife and took her into a wooded area. Police said the assault happened near Rose and Broadway.

The Rivergreenway stretches 24 miles across Fort Wayne and New Haven. This incident was the third reported sexual assault on the Rivergreenway in three years. Police said they believe it was a random attack.

Police describe the suspect as a white male in his late 30's to early 40's, approximately 6'3" to 6'5" tall, weighing 200 pounds with dirty blonde hair. He was last seen wearing faded blue jeans and a light blue T-shirt with a black emblem on the front.

If you recognize the man in this sketch, call the New Haven Police Department at (260) 748-7080.
