Police Find Marijuana Operating In Burket

Last updated on Thursday, June 6, 2013

(BURKET) - Police say an anonymous tip led officers to a northern Indiana farm where they found about 650 marijuana plants growing inside a barn.

The Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department says drug task force officers went Monday to the small farm in a rural area southeast of Warsaw. Officers report finding an elaborate indoor marijuana grow operation covering several rooms inside the farm's main barn, which included fans, heating elements, grow lighting and an irrigation system.

Sheriff's Capt. Aaron Rovenstine tells WSBT-TV that investigators estimate that the seized marijuana would have a street value of more than $200,000.

The 48-year-old resident was jailed on preliminary felony charges of marijuana dealing and marijuana possession.
