One Dead, One In Critical Condition After Indianapolis Shooting

(INDIANAPOLIS) - Police are investigating after one person died and another person was left in critical condition after a shooting on the city’s northeast side Monday night.

The incident happened in the 3800 block of North Layman Avenue near East 38th Street around 7 p.m.

One person was dead on the scene. The other person was in critical condition with two or three gunshot wounds, officials said.

Police said when they arrived to the scene, they found a vehicle that had crashed into a tree in the front yard of a house, officials with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department said.

Police said one victim was found dead in the car.

The second victim was found lying on the street and was taken to Wishard Memorial Hospital with gunshot wounds to his leg.

No one has been arrested and officials will process the crime scene, IMPD said.

The Marion County Coroner's office will identify the victim after an autopsy is performed.
