(INDIANAPOLIS) - The Indiana secretary of state's office has cleared the Marion County Republican Party of wrongdoing at last weekend's Indy Pride Festival, where it registered voters at the same table where it was raffling off a 32 inch TV set.
Indiana Stonewall Democrats President Aaron Schaler alleged in a letter to Secretary of State Connie Lawson Tuesday that the GOP violated federal law. The law prohibits the offer of payment to prospective voters for registering, and Schaler argued the raffle was an improper enticement.
Marion County GOP Chairman Kyle Walker has said attendees weren't required to register to vote in order to participate in the raffle, and most did not fill out a voter registration form.
