Family Files Suit Against Newcastle High School Corporation

Last updated on Saturday, June 1, 2013

(NEWCASTLE) - A Newcastle special needs student has filed a lawsuit against the Newcastle High Community School Corporation and the Indiana Department of Education after she contends she was sexually assaulted in a high school locker room.

The suit says the alleged victim was sexually assaulted by another male student while she was cleaning the locker room unsupervised as part of the Program for Exception Students.

The lawsuit says teachers and school personnel failed to provide adequate supervision of the locker room activities and the alleged victim is said to have "remained on the floor of the locker room until she was discovered sometime after the incident."
