Family Digs Up Body To Determin Cause Of Death

Last updated on Sunday, June 16, 2013

(COLUMBUS) - The family of a 49-year-old Columbus man who died from a gunshot wound in April will be taken out of his grave in an effort to find out how he died.

The Republic reports Cary Owsley died in April 7 and the Bartholomew County Sheriff's Department called his death a suicide.

He was found by family in his home with a bullet hole to his chest and heart.

The sheriff's office is still interviewing witnesses and leads in an effort to get more information on unanswered questions.

The family decided to hire a private forensic pathologist to study his remains to determine whether he was killed or committed suicide.

The pathologist will study the body in three weeks.
