(PRINCETON) - A 13-year-old Princeton boy is in the hospital Monday night after being dragged by a train.
It happened around 5 p.m. near the Broadway and Embree Street intersection.
Princeton Police Chief W.W. George tells 14 News that the boy threw his shoes and backpack across the tracks while a train was going by. Officers say the boy then jumped on the moving train, then jumped off. When he went to pick up his backpack, his left arm became trapped and he was dragged by the train.
Police say his cousin was able to free him and a worker at the nearby train depot applied a tourniquet.
The police chief says the boy's injuries are serious. He was taken to Deaconess Hospital.
