(INDIANAPOLIS) - Indianapolis Metropolitan police say a woman was stabbed to death Wednesday afternoon, sparking a standoff that ended with a man in custody.
According to police, it started around 4 p.m. in the area near 22nd Street and Arlington Avenue on the east side. A woman was found stabbed on the porch. She was taken to an area hospital in critical condition and died from her injuries.
According to police, the woman's daughter told police on the scene that someone was inside the house. A SWAT unit was called to the scene because the man would not come out.
After negotiating for about an hour, police convinced him to leave.
Officers took him into custody. They are interviewing him to find out what led to the fatal stabbing.
Police said a dog charged at an officer during the standoff. Police responded by shooting and killing the dog.
