(INDIANAPOLIS) - The City of Indianapolis and the family of a teen that says he was beat by police during his arrest in May 2010 have reached a $150,000 settlement.

According to Brandon Johnson's attorney, Johnson was brutally beaten by three Indianapolis Metropolitan police officers in May 2010. One of the officers involved was cleared of any wrongdoing by a civilian merit board . The U.S. Department of Justice ruled that no federal criminal civil rights charges were going to be filed.

Johnson's family filed a civil claim for damages in federal court and a settlement was reached on Thursday.

Johnson said in a release that he is ready to put the last three years behind him.

His attorney, Stephen Wagner, says he believes the settlement represents a fair outcome for all parties. He said to Johnson, the settlement also represents "an acknowledgement that the police were wrong."
