Suspicious White Substance Found At Fairbanks Recovery Center

Last updated on Tuesday, May 14, 2013

(INDIANAPOLIS) - Crews investigated a suspicious white substance found at the Fairbanks Recovery Center.

IFD crews were called to the 8100 block of Clearvista Parkway on report of the suspicious substance.

A woman told IFD a white man in a silver car asked her to deliver the envelope. After she brought the white envelope inside, the white substance was noticed.

The envelope was not addressed to a specific person.

Emergency crews evacuated the building as a precaution.

Health Department and Haz Mat crews put on their white suits while they investigate.

After a number of tests, officials did not detect anything hazardous in the substance. However, the substance has been sent to the state lab for further testing. Results are expected sometime tomorrow.

Five people were transported to Community North Hospital as a precaution.

While no one came in direct contact with the substance, one woman said she felt ill. We have not received an update on that woman's condition.

IMPD will be working to identify the person in the silver car.
