Sheriff's Deputy Fired Following Allegations

Last updated on Saturday, May 11, 2013

(MARION COUNTY) - Veteran Marion County sheriff’s deputy Lt. Matthew Milharcic was at least the 12th employee to leave the department since January 2012 over allegations of illegal conduct.

Sheriff John Layton on Friday fired Milharcic after he was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving. Milharcic was pulled over about 1:30 a.m. while he was driving an unmarked Marion County sheriff's car.

The Marion County deputy, who lives in Avon, showed an alcohol level of 0.21 in a portable breath test.

Milharcic's firing comes amid publicity over the second drunken-driving arrest and ongoing legal woes of suspended Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department Officer David Bisard, who remains in jail.
