Police Rescue Two Children After Standoff

Last updated on Saturday, May 18, 2013

(INDIANAPOLIS) - Police rescued two children after an hours-long standoff Thursday night.

The kids had been taken by a parent who does not have custody of them, and they were holed up in a house.

Metro police said Nathaniel Bowling, 31, took his daughter, Kylynne Bowling, 3, and her brother, Jaxson Willey, 5. Nathaniel Bowling has no parental rights to Kylynne, and Jaxson is not his biological child, police said.

Police said Bowling said he was taking the children to Florida, and he could possibly be armed with a handgun.

Just minutes after sending the alert to media about the missing children, police confirmed that they had been located.

Bowling was arrested on preliminary charges of criminal confinement and violation of a custody order, police said.
