Photo Helps Solve 3 Year Old Murder Case

Last updated on Sunday, May 26, 2013

(GARY) - A photograph delivered to Gary police helped authorities solve a 3-year-old murder case.

The "Post Tribune" reports the family of 61-year-old Franklin Simmons found a photograph among his things and sent it to police 7 months after he was brutally shot in the basement of his home in August 2010.

It took authorities another 2 and a half years to link Simmons death to the death of 41-year-old Kevin Champion, who was killed blocks away and minutes apart from Simmons' death.
