Last updated on Thursday, May 2, 2013

(FORT WAYNE) - Governor Pence travels to Fort Wayne today where he will sign the Soldier’s Tuition bill into law.

The bill provides Indiana's veteran's in-state tuition to the state's colleges and universities.

Senator Jim Banks of Columbia City authored the bills. Banks says it is a win-win for the state and veterans because veterans have a skill sets from their service that will benefit employers in the state.

Banks says he thinks the possibility of free tuition will attract veterans to look to the state to take advantage of the opportunity.

Veterans who are not from Indiana would have to live in the state for a year before they are eligible. The free tuition also applies to National Guard members.
