(INDIANAPOLIS) - A new patch claims to be a cure for hangovers, but does it really work?

Richard Essex of WTHR reports that when one drink leads to another and then another, you know the next morning is going to be rough.

The Bytox Hangover Prevention Patch claims to prevent hangovers. According to the company, it is loaded with vitamins - lots of vitamins.

They say putting the patch on 45 minutes before you start drinking will reduce the physical after-effects of alcohol consumption. But to prevent hangovers, you have to understand hangovers.

But according to doctors a A hangover is mostly the effects of profound dehydration that alcohol causes which leads to headaches, nausea and the, fatigue you feel the next day.

Doctors say alternating drinking water and alcohol does help, but it's certainly not a cure. They question how a vitamin patch could prevent hangovers.

Bartenders claim that sleep, to eating greasy foods to absorb the alcohol, to taking a "bite of the dog that bite you" would help."

But doctors says none of those are proven cures.

The Bytox patch doesn't claim to prevent any real medical condition, so it doesn't have to be tested by the FDA.

The company does mention on its website that responsible drinking also helps prevent hangovers.

The product has been removed from shelves in England, where the patch did not cure hangovers.
