Man's Best Friend Stands Watch Over Owner's Body In Tornado Wreckage

Last updated on Thursday, May 23, 2013

(MOORE, OK) - The Oklahoma County Sheriff’s office tweeted a photo of a frightened, muddy dog Monday after a deadly EF-5 tornado ripped through the town.

Tom Ensey reports the comment accompanying the photo said, "scared, but this little pup survived."

On Tuesday, the photo became more poignant when the owner's body was discovered near where the pup was standing watch.

"Man's best friend to end," the post reads."The dog was standing guard over a deceased individual, possibly its owner..."

The dog was taken to a shelter, and the deputy who found it hopes to be able to adopt it.
The photo has been shared and liked thousands of times.
