Man Accused Of Killing Mom And Half-Sister To Stand Trial

Last updated on Thursday, May 16, 2013

(WHITE COUNTY) - A White County man accused of killing his mother and half-sister has been declared competent enough to stand trial.

WLFI reports that 21-year-old David Rodenbarger is accused of stabbing his mother, 41-year-old Michelle Haskins, and his 6-year-old half-sister, Jillian, to death in February.

According to prosecutors in the case, up until this week Rodenbarger's sanity had been questioned and they did not know if he was competent to stand trial.

A status hearing was held this week to determine whether or not Rodenbarger could stand trial. He has been deemed competent enough to be put on trial for murder.

His court date is set for Jan. 21, 2014.

Rodenbarger remains in custody.
